IBTC 2026
Let’s shape the future of hiking & cycling tourism together!
On Thursday 12 September 2026, the 5th edition of the International Bike & hike Tourism Conference (IBTC) takes place in conference center Domstad, Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Organized annually by Hicle, this inspiring event brings together destination managers, marketers, policymakers, and tourism entrepreneurs to share insights, spark fresh ideas, and dive into innovative route concepts and proven best practices. The IBTC kicks off just before the Fiets en Wandelbeurs 2026 (February 13, 14, and 15) in Utrecht, offering a perfect blend of expert insights one day and the opportunity to engage with passionate cyclists and walkers at the consumer fair the next.
Theme 2026
For the 2026 edition, we have chosen the theme "Rerouting Cycling & Hiking Tourism". As outdoor recreation booms, many natural areas are feeling the strain - impacting both the environment and the visitor experience.
By reimagining and redrawing cycling and hiking routes, we can inspire travelers to step beyond well-trodden trails and into different, lesser-known landscapes. The big question: How can route planners, regions, and tourism services influence this shift, without displacing the problem? And, just as importantly, how do we change habits and encourage people to venture outside their usual comfort zones? Join us as we navigate these challenges and pave the way for more sustainable, enjoyable outdoor adventures.
The IBTC offers a full-day program packed with inspiring keynotes, lively breakout sessions, interactive roundtable discussions, a shared lunch, and networking drinks to wrap it all up.
