Ireland: Taking a Giant Leap Forward in Cycling

Ireland, long celebrated for its lush landscapes and warm hospitality, is quickly emerging as a rising star in the world of cycling. The Emerald Isle is on the cusp of transformation with the ambitious development of the National Cycle Network (NCN), signaling a brighter, greener future.

A Vision for Sustainability and Connection

With a firm commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and promoting active lifestyles, Ireland’s NCN is set to revolutionize transport and tourism. Spanning a remarkable 3,500 kilometers, the network will link over 200 towns and villages, ensuring that the vast majority of Ireland’s population lives within 5 kilometers of a cycling route. This means safer, greener options for commuting, recreation, and travel.

The impact doesn’t stop there: the NCN is a game-changer for cycle tourism. Picture holiday cyclists exploring Ireland’s iconic destinations via scenic back roads and dedicated cycle paths. From the Wild Atlantic Way to charming greenways, Ireland is poised to become a top choice for cycling enthusiasts worldwide.
